Ciara’s thoughts! (February)

I’m excited for Houston because I am always looking forward to traveling and taking trips. A few years ago, I was able to go the Youth Gathering in Detroit. To this day, it has still been one of my favorite trips. I learned so much about myself and the people around me. I came to realize that I am a very lucky person to have had the opportunity to not only go on a trip but to take a trip where I was helping others and making their daily life easier. I am so excited to go to Houston this summer because I loved the feeling I had in Detroit when we helped people and I can’t wait to feel that again for the people in Houston. I hope everyone is looking forward to this trip as much as I am. Its going to be a lot of fu

November Group

Here’s three ways to be together this weekend, and I hope you can come to something:
unnamed.jpg
1) At least a few youth group folks will be at Damonte Ranch’s play, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, tomorrow night (Saturday) at 7pm. It’s $8 for students, $10 for general folks.
Let me know if you want to connect with someone there, and I’ll tell Paul to find you.
2) We’re together on Sunday morning, 9:55am. Great, Great job on the bells last week! This Sunday will be a meaningful worship service (All Saints Worship) and a good time to be together as a group from 9:55-10:55am. We’ll share about saints in our lives and then we’ll practice our bells piece for the next Sunday (11/12).
3) There’s Youth Group dinner on Sunday night, 6pm-8:30pm. If you come to one thing this weekend, this might be your best choice! At least for intentional group time, fellowship, sharing food and stories, and lifting each other up!
Please RSVP to me so we get the food all planned!

Oct Conf News

Hi, Confirmation families!

We wrapped up a session on the Old Testament last week.
Everyone is invited to come tomorrow night and participate in a couple things we’re doing:
1) we’re offering “pet sitting” to any people that bring animals before/after the Blessing of the Animals service.
  — So, that service is at 6:30pm. We want to be available to watch animals from 5pm-6:30 and also 7pm-8pm. **This is a fundraiser specifically for 8th-12th graders who want to go to the national gathering next summer! But, we’ll take any extra hands we can get (7th grade invited)
2) We can catch up on one of the Old Testament lessons, especially If any students weren’t there last week–but they had been there for 3 of the previous weeks–then they can still come tomorrow night and have a final session and receive the “GIFT” that indicates they completed the Old Testament sessions. Come on! (5pm!)
3) We’ll also begin talking about Martin Luther and his history and we’ll do this for the next Three Thursdays as we get close to Reformation Sunday. This, combined with a Lutheran-style project–is a way to recieve a “GIFT” under the “Iive among god’s faithful people” section. 🙂
This will go 10/12, 10/19, and 10/26, and a project.
Ok, please do come tomorrow night to help us market our upcoming summer trip and even raise a little money as we watch pets. And, come ready to learn and have fun together too! We’ll do a little bit of everything.
Let me know if you have any questions!
peace and all good,
Shaun

Ringing in a new program!

from Derek Nance:

We are excited to be re-starting the handbell/handchime program at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard. Your child will be participating in the bell program during the 10-11:00 hour on Sunday mornings. There are two groups, 1st-6th grade and 7-12th grade. Each group will be performing for the congregation on various Sundays throughout the year, in addition to learning about music and bells on a weekly basis.

Handbell and handchimes are the ultimate team instrument. Unlike any other instrument, each ringer is responsible for one or two notes at a time. Handbells can only work if every ringer is present. Please let me know ahead of time if your child will not be available for a performance or rehearsal. Don’t worry, if your child can not be at a performance, they can still participate in the program. I just need to know ahead of time to make plans accordingly.

Come get a taste, even if you’re not sure what this whole year might look like for you. We want to share with you our vision of 7th/8th grade group learning.

Youth and at least one parent or guardian should come to hear about the year and begin again with us!
Can you RSVP to me so we can plan food and supplies?!
